Before Freeze-Up #
- Check and re-caulk any gaps in trim, corners, or around windows and doors
- Ensure the roof is clear of debris before snow season
- Check that door latches and locks are in good working order
- Safely store or remove any chemicals that shouldn’t freeze (fertilizers, paint, etc.)
- If the shed is insulated or heated, inspect weatherstripping around doors
Managing Snow on the Roof #
Our roof designs are engineered to handle normal Alberta snow loads. After an unusually heavy snowfall:
- Use a roof rake to remove heavy accumulation — avoid sharp tools that could damage shingles
- Ensure snow is not banking up against the walls
- Check that eaves and overhangs are not clogged with ice buildup
