Annual Maintenance Checklist #
- Inspect caulking around trim, corners, and windows — reapply anywhere it has cracked or separated
- Check for paint wear, especially on south- and west-facing surfaces
- Clear debris and leaves from the roof
- Ensure vegetation isn’t growing directly against the siding — keep a clear border
- Inspect the floor interior for any signs of moisture
Cleaning the Exterior #
LP SmartSide can be cleaned with a garden hose and mild detergent. Avoid pressure washing directly at trim joints or caulked seams. For mildew, a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) applied with a soft brush works well — rinse thoroughly.
Pest Prevention #
- Seal any gaps around the foundation, door frames, and utility penetrations with caulk or expanding foam
- Keep the interior tidy — clutter and stored cardboard attract rodents
- Store pet food and birdseed in sealed containers
